I currently have two CentOS 6.3 virtual machines, both running avahi-daemon, but one of them can't be reached by its name. Re: git.kernel.org: Name or service not known That looks like some DNS problems to me. Have you tried running those wget commands listed in the log manually, on the same machine you're building that? I am getting these across all my clients on syslog and also via report emails intermittently, around 2-3 times a day per client: Puppet (err): Failed to apply catalog: getaddrinfo: Name or service not known There is no other information in the logs or emails other than this.
